It’s Dystonia Awareness Month, and as always, we have lots of activities planned!

WEBINARS

There is one webinar planned this month:

‘DBS Select: An Interactive Experience’ will be held on Wednesday, September 10 from 18.00-19.30 hrs CET. DBS Select is an educational tool designed to better inform patients and caregivers about deep brain stimulation (DBS) – a technique widely used to treat movement disorders, such as dystonia.

Join Dr. Alexandra Boogers (Leuven, Belgium) and Dr. Harith Akram (London, UK) as they introduce the project, explain what DBS surgery entails, and discuss how daily life is following DBS. Register for this event now by clicking here

A NEW MASCOT FOR DYSTONIA!

Dystonia has a new mascot! Meet Dynamo, a brave young dinosaur who has had DBS for his dystonia. Dynamo wants to help other kids learn about dystonia by sharing his experiences. Read all about Dynamo in his comic, which is available here: https://dystonia-europe.org/dynamo/

CHILDREN’S ART COMPETITION

We are excited to announce Dystonia Europe’s first art competition! This competition is open to all children under the age of 18 years, living anywhere in Europe. The theme of the competition is ‘My Hero’. Artwork might celebrate a parent, caregiver, nurse or teacher, or it could be an imaginary superhero. We can’t wait to see who your heroes are!

Prizes will be awarded in two categories – under 12 years and under 18 years. Click here to read more about the competition and how to enter.
The closing date for entries is Friday, October 3, 2025.
