Dystonia Europe has the pleasure of running a two day training course for qualified physiotherapists in the treatment of Cervical Dystonia to follow on from the initial one day course held in Newcastle October 2024.
The course will be led by Johanna Blom who has 17 years experience treating dystonia and training other professionals. She has written a book about cervical dystonia and spasticity and in collaboration with Dystonia Europe has developed a digital platform for cervical dystonia with detailed descriptions and animations of treating cervical dystonia with physiotherapy.
This two day course will be held in Walkergate Park Hospital, which is a dystonia treatment centre and they have kindly offered us the conference facilities free of charge. Any qualified physiotherapists who already have some knowledge of treating dystonia can apply for a place although those who completed the earlier one day course will be given priority.
The course will be £50/€60 which includes all refreshments and a packed lunch both days.
For those travelling to Newcastle I recommend you book your hotel as soon as possible, I have looked into the options and the Royal Station Hotel Newcastle offers the best price (nearest to the train station) and this is where Johanna (instructor) Monika and myself will be staying. It is right next door to the Newcastle Central Train Station.
There are other hotels in the area of course.
We will provide a free mini bus from the front of the Royal Station Hotel to the course venue and back again both days.
For local delegates who will drive to the venue we will arrange free parking in the hospital car park.
This course is possible due to funding from the now closed charity Action for Dystonia, Diagnosis, Education and Research, ADDER).
